The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners met on July 8 at the Nemaha County Courthouse for a regular scheduled meeting.
Veteran's Service Officer, Loras Baumhover, along with Veterans Service Board members Milton Kite, Charles Fike, Rick Moore and Raymond Gebers, visited with the board regarding the replacement of the Veteran's Service vehicle, with the possibility of replacement in the next budget year and hiring permanent temporary part-time help for when the Veteran's Service Officer is on sick leave or vacation.
Veterans Board members indicated it would be easier for the veterans to get in and out of a van as opposed to a car. District 3 Commissioner Randy Rohrs will look into the cost of a van for replacing of the current vehicle, which is a car.
Yolanda Peck, chairman of Auburn Development Council along with ADC board members Glen Krueger, Dennis Wittmann and Daryl Obermeyer presented the ADC's Fiscal Year 2009-2010 budget request of $9,300. They requested the county board consider this amount when working on the next fiscal year's budget. The ADC representatives also highlighted several projects which the Auburn Development Council is currently working on.
Kevin Burnison with Southeast Nebraska Development District visited with the board on current and new SENDD projects and presented the agency's annual report.
Commissioners approved Omaha Public Power District's application #136 to install a single-phase overhead power line three-fourth mile west and one mile south of Julian.
The board also approved Flood Plain Permit/Application #40 for Nebraska Public Power District to build two water wells.
The meeting was conducted by Chairman Monty Lovelace and also attended by District 1 Commissioner Bob Hutton and County Clerk Joyce Oakley.
